Network - Combiner
A combiner is a fiber-optic coupler (optical signal splitter and redirector) that combines multiple incoming signals into a single outgoing signal. A particular type of combiner is an essential element for WDM (wavelength division multiplexing), in which signals from multiple channels are sent over the same output channel. The input channels are all transmitting at different wavelengths, and the coupler's job is to combine the signals in the proper manner. A combiner is sometimes known as a combiner coupler.
