Network - Auto-Partition Algorithm

An algorithm by which a repeater can automatically disconnect a segment from a network if that segment is not functioning properly. This can happen, for example, when a broken or unterminated cable causes too many collisions. When the collisions have subsided, the network segment can be reconnected.
