Network - IRC (Internet Relay Chat)

A protocol that provides access to a global talk network in which participants can communicate in real time to converse about topics of mutual interest. Different conversations take place over different channels. IRC is an extension and enhancement of the UNIX talk program to, among other things, allow more than two users to talk at a time. IRC can serve as an inexpensive conference call method.
